ParkinsonGo DiGA App

"ParkinsonGo" is a gait analysis system that enables fast and targeted medication adjustment for Parkinson patients. The underlying MDR-certified medical device is a combination of App, intelligent gait analysis algorithm, and motion sensors that patients attach to their shoes and wear during daily activities. The patient's gait pattern is continuously recorded and analyzed, and symptom events and medication intake can be documented by the patient. This information is available to the treating neurologists via a web interface so that they can promptly identify the need for therapy or the effect of their treatment on the basis of data.

ParkinsonGo is also used in clinical research to demonstrate the efficacy of new therapies.

The ParkinsonGo is available for both iOS and Android devices. Technologically, the app is based on Flutter, so the app is developed only once for both operating systems.

The communication between motion sensors and app happens via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The measurement is completely controlled by the app. The evaluation also takes place in the app. For the analysis of the data, Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) is used and the results are transferred to the flood layer. The WorkManager API on Android and BackgroundTasks from iOS are used to perform the transfer of data and subsequent processing of the data in the background as well.
